Figure 1 provides an overview of how
the DyeTracer process works. In steps 1 through 3, smalls amounts
(typically 50 ml to 500 ml) of rhodamine dye is injected into the
well at different depths. Discharge from the water well is fed directly
to the Flourometer (See step 4) where the dye is detected in parts
per billion (ppb).
The return rates of the dye are recorded in real-time on a laptop
(step 5) and provide accurate, duplicatable data for determining water
supply contribution by depth and zone. Water is typically discharged
directly to a storm drain -minute dye concentrations do not discolor
the discharge water. Return rate data are exported for analysis and
charted in MS Excel. A Flow Velocity Profile is then generated and
the well performance defined. |
