  Water Supply Well Diagnostic Service

Dyetracer Operational Scheme

Figure 1 provides an overview of how the DyeTracer process works. In steps 1 through 3, smalls amounts (typically 50 ml to 500 ml) of rhodamine dye is injected into the well at different depths. Discharge from the water well is fed directly to the Flourometer (See step 4) where the dye is detected in parts per billion (ppb).

The return rates of the dye are recorded in real-time on a laptop (step 5) and provide accurate, duplicatable data for determining water supply contribution by depth and zone. Water is typically discharged directly to a storm drain -minute dye concentrations do not discolor the discharge water. Return rate data are exported for analysis and charted in MS Excel. A Flow Velocity Profile is then generated and the well performance defined.
